With Wine, Dine Fine…

Pairing wine with food is often debated. We often confuse how to pair certain flavors with different elements of the dish. As a vegetarian, I am also mentioning some delicious veggie pairing along with good old meat and seafood. Here are a few suggestions after a lot of research and reading.
So, try these combinations are let me know which one you liked the most.

1. Chardonnay(White)
Primary flavors- Starfruit, Yellow Apple, Vanilla, Pineapple, Butter
Meat: chicken, pork
Seafood: shrimp, crab, lobster
Veggies: potato, apple, squash, mango
Sauces: cream sauces, pesto
In a less technical way, goes great with anything with a rich sauce.
2. Pinot Noir (Red)-
Primary flavors- Cherry, Raspberry, Mushroom, Clove, Hibiscus
Meat: lamb, sausage, filet mignon, chicken
Seafood: tuna, salmon
Veggies: mushrooms, dried fruits, figs, strawberries
Sauces: mushroom sauces, light-medium red sauces
Goes well with earthy notes in food.
3. Syrah(Red)- Also known as Shiraz.
Primary Flavors: Blueberry, Black Plum, Milk Chocolate, Tobacco, Green Peppercorn
Meat: roasted tandoori
Fruits and Veggies: currants, stewed tomatoes, beets
Seafood: tuna, salmon
Sauces: BBQ, heavy red sauces
Goes well with highly spicy dishes.
4. Cabernet Sauvignon(Red) — World’s most widely recognized red wine.
Primary Flavors: Black Cherry, Black Current, Cedar, Anise, Graphite, Tobacco leaf
Meat: rib eye, beef stew
Seafood: grilled, tuna
Veggies: black cherries, tomatoes, broccoli
Sauces: brown sauce, tomato sauce
Goes well with Grilled meat and juicy peppery sauces.
5. Sauvignon Blanc(White) -
Primary Flavors- Lime, Green Apple, Pear, Kiwi, Passionfruit, Guava, Peach
Meat: chicken, turkey, pork
Seafood: oysters, scallops, lobster, shrimp, sushi
Veggies: citrus, green apple, asparagus
Sauces: citrus and light cream sauces
Goes well with tangy flavor food.
